Title: Radio Removal
Post by: ians on 27 May 2007, 16:24:02
.. mini facelift

I don't have the DIN tool but looking at other posts it seems makeshift tools can do.

I have been trying with 4 small allen keys (the grub screws are out) poking around aimlessly but I'm not sure what I'm trying to do.  Presumably there are 4 sprung locking tabs that you're trying to disengage.

Which direction are these pointing in (ie are you trying to push them in towards the radion or out to the chassis?) and how far in are they?

How hard do you have to pull on the radio once the tabs are released?

.. or am I completely up the wrong street :-[

Anyone got a piccie?

Cheers,

Ian

they're about an inch in and you need to be pushing them inward towards the unit, so move the pins outward a tad

it will be awkward without the correct removal tool

I made up a very cheap and effective tool by getting an old wire coathanger, cutting off a 12 or so inch length straight, and then bending it into a U shape.  Make two of these up and these worked fine for my CCR2006.

Oh and the U shape makes it easier to do what Danny suggested - ie push the clips inwards.

OK got it out thanks.   I'll take and post a pic of the radio on here for posterity before i reassemble it.

Now for the next challenge - how to disconnect the bloody wiring from the back of the climate panel .. >:(

I will eventually change those wretched climate bulbs grrr
