Hi,
I have an Omega from 2001 2.2dti (y22dth) and i have a big problem.
Few days ago, motor lose power, i can't go over 1500rpm, a terrible smoke come from exhaustion and my yelow light shine(service) on panel.
I tested with several programs b and i obtained this:
- OBD-II: P1220 Throttle Pos (TP) Sens2 Circ
- Autodata: P1220 Fuel Quantity adjusment control malfunction
I consulted several mechanics but no one is sure what is the problem. They sugested to clean tpsensor (Where is it?), to change filter, fuel pump or injection pump.
So if anyone experience the same problem or know what i shall do please help me.

Welcome to the forum :y
Omegatoy is our diesel expert, you will probably have to wait until he comes along.

Hmm dont know to much about the litltle one to be honest but i do know ther are famous for dropping
the injector pump!!! :o however it all sounds like a fuel problem so i would get a new fuel filter and fill it with a can of diesel magic then tiop up with diesel, put on the car and start engine hold revs at around 1500rpm for about ten mins, this will do a couple of things mainly clean the injector pump internals and the injectors!! however it does have many beneficial effects on diesels have used this trick on about 5 cars now and not known it to fail on the six cylinder diesel, give it a try and report back mate

hey omegatoy! what was wrong with them before you magiced them, & what was the result?

Poor throttle response
poor starting
heavy smoke on accelaration
engine seeming to hold back or missfire on a steady throttle if you know what i mean
basically its the injector pump FBW pot in the injector pump playing about causing all these faults if the magic doesent work then its down to stripping the top of the pump off and cleaning the pot by hand!!
Its basically sludge form the tank coating the tracks and causing it
results after is the owners leaping about sying my god the car has nevfer driven so well thanks!!! :y

Filter changed and nothing.
EGR valve cleaned and a litle better.
New-in my turbo is some oil.
Same on entire intercoler circuit. Radiator(intercooler) very hot.
I suspect is filled with oil.
Still oil level is normal.
If disconected from intercooler I have no smoke but no turbo.
So the smoke is from the oil wich came into the intercooler circuit from turbo.
How did the oil get inthere????? Tomorow we will check the turbine.
Any sugestion?
Fault codes completly wrong.

turbo seals gone then which would account for all your woes with the engine running!!

Sounds good to me even tho nothing wrong at the mo. Might try it anyway.
\but my current maf sensor engine is def a lot smoother than two previous non maf.

i was looking at this yesterday, the oil is comming from what i think is the crankcase breather. where the turbo intake pipe is (comming from the air filter) there is a smaller pipe that ducts into this; the other end of this smaller pipe connects to the top of the engine (engine breather?); i think this is where the oil comes from.... ?
i cleaned my pipes out and am thinking of doing the intercooler at some point (but i have other more pressing issues to resolve 1st ::); could be worth doing.
although your turbo seals could still be gone if you are getting lots of smoke; mine had oil in the pipes (not alot) but it doesnt smoke excessivley (when working properly); just a puff whne accelerating hard.
hope that helps

A coating of oil in the system between the turbo and the inlet manifold is normal due to the breather on the rocker cover being situated before the turbo so that any oil vapour is sucked in through the air intake system and burnt of in the fuel air mix. Some settlement of the oil will occur so that you get some running out when you remove the hoses between the intake manifold and the intercooler but it looks worse thatn it is and this is backed up by you not using excessive amounts of oil.
One basic question, sorry for asking, are the hoses all intact and clear on the inlet sytem from the inlet at the front right through to the inlet manaifold and is the air filter in reasonable condition. Th e reason I ask I had similar symtoms when the hose came off the bottom of the turbo which was caused by the mechanic who serviced the car not tightening up the hose clip after having the hose off to change the fuel filter.

tomorow we will disassemble the turbine and the hoses and i will tell you.
but strange is that is oil on the surface of the turbine shell.
i will keep you up to date.

agree with that mate definetly the p plater is a smoother lump then the M plate non maf but it just dont have the same get up an go, and the fuel consumption is lower than the non maf one too!!!

We dissasemble intercoler circuit. It's same oil inside but not much. So it's seems it's not the turbo. Anyway it's smoking now even if we put out the intercooler hose.
Everyone rise their shoulders and can not give me a diagnostic.
I spoke with some mechanics on phone (because they ar 100km away) and they said to sent the car because is the injection pump.
The simptoms are worst now : a lot much smoke and the engine is not smooth even at 800rpm. Some climping noise inside.

NEW
No smoke, just when i go over 2500rpm.
No yelow light.
No stop on turbo, i can accelerate how much i want.
But still some smoke when i accelerate, much more then before the malfunction.
A very nasty noise come from my motor (frequency depends on ratation speed).
Some guys said that its axes, injectors, valves......
I am completly desoriented.
