Title: Flooded
Post by: Andy B on 04 June 2007, 23:36:51
passenger foot well.
Has anyone had one of these that wasn't caused by a blocked drain under the pollen filter? And have you discovered how the water got in? It doesn't look or smell like it's been there that long, and when I used it daily up untill Jan I'd not had particularly badly misted up windows.
I'd discovered yesterday that mine was swimming when I'd lifted the carpet & sound proofing, but I don't really want to take it all out from over the transmission tunnel to allow me to look higher up behind the glove box area.

Hi there
Has it been standing outside since January, no leaves glogging, or wet overhead inside cabin?

No. It's not been standing since Jan. Just not used every day - it p***ed me off putting £60 a week of petrol in it  :( . The bottom of the pollen filter housing is clear of all sh1te.

The only time I have had this problem on a Cav it turned out to be the windscreen seal. put som screen weld stuff in and stoped the leak.

At the minute I have a load of the trim from the near side sill & glove box on the back seat while I've been squeezing the sound deadening of as much water as I can and 'Hoovering' it out. I've managed to flatten the battery enough to make the radio think I've disconnected the battery by leaving doors open. :(  I'll try & get it all in one piece tomorrow in between hanging another rear garage door, before the rot makes it fall from its hinges  :-[ , cutting the grass, sorting the rear fog light wiring to the towbar & washing ther caravan & &...& .... ;D  ;D  ;D I caan't wait to go back to work! ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

It's clean, clear water, with no taste.  :-/
I couldn't be bothered putting all the carpet back today, it's still sat on the drive with the passenger door open all the windows and various things shoved under the sound deadening in an effort to dry it all. The car will have to stay closed up for the rest of the week though as I'll be working.

The value of the car doesn't really make it worth while now. Besides, I like my boot.

Ahh!  :exclamation You might well have a point there. The car has had a new screen fitted at  some stage before I got it, but I've had the car getting on for 4 years and never noticed anything before. I only discovered it was wet while I was trying to trace my lack of volts to the caravan permanant supply (Doh!  :-[ ) and had the inner sill cover & passenger side kick panel removed, the carpet is bone dry but when you get under the hard rubber/plasticy sound proof the soft sponge is sodden. I'll chuck a bucket of water over the screen at the week end and go from there.
