Title: get aHeadlight
Post by: mikeh on 05 June 2007, 13:50:27
Hi,
Have to get new headlamp (1999 2.5 V6 CDX clear Xenon projector type?) as existing damaged by pheasant. Have seen a few new ones on ebay for around the £50.00 mark as compared to £130 for a GM trade club. Does anyone know if these pattern ones are any good?
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

So, two questions....

1) Is your car a facelift, easiest way to tell is the position of the electric window switches.....if on the door, its a facelift, if on the centre console its a mini facelift.

2) Does your car have HID lighting (if a facelift it should have on a CDx), easiest way to tell this is to look at the headlight switch, if it has a headlight level control dial (0-1-2-3) then they are not HID.

Its only with this info that we can tell which headlight you need

Mark,

Thanks for your reply.

It has the electric window switches on the centre console and headlight level control switch under the light switch.

Its not a facelift and it doesn't have HID lighting.

This is the sort you require

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-CLEAR-HEADLAMP-HEADLIGHT-1997-99_W0QQitemZ330127830559QQihZ014QQcategoryZ23009QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

But, confirm with them first that it is a UK spec right hand drive headlight unit and not one for a left hand drive car as they are different.....

OK thanks.
It almost seems too good to be true when VX want about £130.
Do you know anything about the quality or if they are an exact fit?

It should just fit in......not the same quality as the Vx but, will do the job.

You could also have a look in a local breakers yard.  They are not difficult to remove although they may want to sell as a pair. I don't know what the going rate is - others may.

The projectors are fairly expensive, even 2nd hand, as they are a very popular upgrade to the woeful, earlier ribbed lights...
