Title: :0 Window's work when door open but when closed!!!
Post by: VX1 on 11 June 2007, 19:50:09
I have found out that when I have my driver's door open the power window's work BUT when the door is shut they don't and the light goes out on the switch. Is this due to a broken wire wire or the switch on its way out? It happen's with both switch's. the car is a 2.0ltr manual M reg 1995. Has anyone had this problem before?

Check that the loom is plugged into the door properly between the hinges...might not have been latched in fully...but it sounds like a broken wire inside the corrugated tube.

Thank's. Will check this shortly and hoping that it's not a broken wire. :y

Is the ignition on when this happens?  Check your manual - what you are describing may be normal behavior.  See p 122 of the Omega manual on the web.  Ive included a bit from that doc:

Leaving the vehicle
The windows can still be operated after the ignition has been switched off. Once the
doors have been closed the windows can no longer be operated from inside.

I had the same prob with my one, it was the connector on the door, its twists on and off, was tight, but seemed to have a bit of damp in it, undid it, sprayed it with the old wd40, and twisted it back on, been fine since.
