I have a 2.2 eco cd estate 2002 which has a problem with auto box. When in drive it high revs then snatches into gearwhich causes the engine electronics and immobilzer light to come on. Most often can clear it by turning off and on, but the last time it would not clear.
Have had it reset at a cost and the computer was showing fault codes P0340 (cam sensor) and P1700 (transmission control system malfunction).
However the P1700 code cannot be cleared, is this because it is related to the cam sensor being at fault?, and can it be cleared once te cam sensor has been changed.

Change the cam sensor anyway - this can cause the 1700, and often puts box in limp...

thanks for that, you wouldnt happen to know any breakers in the birmingham area that i could get a sensor from do you.

Buy new, not to expensive....you can get them for about 50ish from a factors.

I have a 2001 2.2 CD Omega and have had the same problem as you, TB is correct in stating that the fault lies with the Camshaft Sensor! Its amazing the faults that a damaged / faulty cam sensor can throw up.
I too had the P0340. P1700 & P0700 faults.
You can change the cam sensor yourself with a little patience, think there is a "How To" in the maintenance guides section.
Best of luck

Definatly change the cam sensor......bout £50 if you can find someone with a TC card....as Marks say bung a new one in there :y About 1/2hr work doing it yourself even if you dont know what your doing.....5 mins if your Mark..... ;)
If changing the cam sensor fixes the probs...then
P1700......ignore imo.....iirc my came up with P1700 again.....when Mark read the codes at the Lakes....P1700 basically mean g/b is having a prob......when he read the g/b codes it came up with can bus error....which is really....i havent got a clue what this means....and as g/b is fine....ignore it. :y
If it only part fixes and you still have g/b probs.....you need to get the g/b ecu codes read
