225/50 16's are the same as my 2.5 elite, i would have thought they should be smaller on yours but it may have newer alloys on??

The brand of tyre you mention sound like a budget brand to me..

Sorry not much help but someone will pipe up soon with a confirmed answer for you i'm sure

CD is likely 205/55R16. Elite (prefacelift) should be 225/55R16.

Try www.etyres.co.uk or www.black-circles.co.uk or in your case, www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk (usually very competitive, and a trusted member here)

Just got the Senator booked in for new rubber... got 205 / 65 / 15 all around... having Dunlop SP300 fitted for £61 each including VAT and fitting... seams like a good price.

Not the best tyre in the world (won't be for £60) but it should do me  :)

As shown blackcircles.com are good, etyres are the cheapest around... but do ring up a local trusted tyre place, they will often match online places.

I hope that's for the proper spec Z rated tyre Tunnie!  ::)

Hmmmm I am going to double check tonigh when i get home but i think mine has the wrong profile.

Just spoke to Vauxhall and he never had a clue. said to me if you have 225/50/ R16 on the front and back and you want to change the backs its fine to put 225/55/ R16 on Hummm i think it would be better to have it the same all round.

Looks like ill have to get 225/55/ R16 all round total pain in the arse

If you're going to change the profile you need to change all 4 at once. Whilst it would be legally permissible to have different profiles on the 2 axles, the ABS would likely start complaining.

I believe I've heard good things about Nexen tyres. They are a budget brand but reckoned to be good. Then again, it may be another budget brand I'm thinking of.

Craig,

I think it should say what your tyre options are in the back of your owners manual.

My 2.5 CDX ('98) has 225/55/16

I have read good things about Nexen - think of them as premium budget, similar to Falken.

I think your speedo will read too low.  (car goes further per wheel rotation - as the circumference is bigger - than it thinks)

Cheers,
Ian

All,

been running my Omega for over 4 years on Nexens (always 225/55/16s) and never had a problem.  They  are budget tyres and my local mobile fitting service in Stevenage fits them for about £30 a tyre including valve and balancing. I know that Jaguar dealers also use nexens on second-hand Jags and they were originally recommended to me by a Subaru dealer who said that they are made in the same factory as another Premium brand and are actually the same tyre!
Cheers
