Title: High fuel useage after oil cooler has been replacd
Post by: nen3906 on 24 June 2007, 19:02:12
Hi there
I have recently had the garage replace the oil cooler on my 2.5 v6 omega elite......all is good, apart from the fact that the fuel is being eaten very quickly....when i pull off normally she is registering 7.2mpg !!!!  Quite alot lower than before, and she doesnt seem as powerful.....with the average dropping all the time (down to 23 now from 28 and ive only done 70 mile since the repair)

Anyone got any ideas on where to look, before I have to take her back....(dont want to as only have 1 car)

Thanks in advance...

Steve

As per PM, Steve.

If the car is now flat then possible some electrical connector is unplugged/broken but this would, I think, throw up a fault code and cause the light to show on the dash?  Could also be a substantial air leak, causing incorrect fuelling?

No doubt someone more cleverer will be along shortly to assist further.    :y

Inlet manifold will have been removed so possible air leak, should see around 20" vacuum at idle.
Other possibility is the coolant temp sensor not connected but I think this would put EML on.
