Title: Ignore last thread, it's not sump gasket!!
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 30 June 2007, 14:37:54
Just had a second look, and it's not the sump gasket. as the seeping is coming from above the upper sump.

I noticed a 10mm bolt, just  by the pressure switch, which wasn't fully home. AH HA - I thought. So I got myself a ratchet, to carefully tighten it. Upon turning the rathet a fraction, the head of the bolt snapped off in my hand :( :(

I can now see, that oil is seeping from around this bolt hole. Good news is, with the bagpipes out, I can PROBABLY drill it out and tap a new thread into it.

Does this mean it's the oil pump gasket leaking? What's this like to do?

I too have an uber oil leak !

The top of my sump is coverd in oil , esp since i changed the oil ! I'm thinking i may have this fault too,
as it does seem to be leaking more from the drivers side of the engine.

James your pix arn't that clear , could you possibly highlight the area of the bolt ?

Good luck with your leak, mines driving me mad !!!

I,ve heard on hear that the oil pump is a no go job, as it is a full bottm end strip, about 12 hrs worth just to gain access :( IIRC its the reason Ronald McBurger done his engine change :(
