Taking my daughter to school this morning and noticed this car. Ex-police MV6, 3.o manual, with 145k on the clock.
Could well have been abandoned. It's locked up, but there's no tax and the radio is missing, plus it's in a place where local yobs tend to hang out. Could be a "lost or stolen". Should I just forget about it or report it to local police or council?

report it with the number plate it might be listed as stolen or not but the way to look at it is if it was your car you would want someone to report your car found, it will only take you 5 seconds to make someones day

i would report it to the police it could be somebodys pride and joy that some scumbag has stolen and dumped,if it was me i would like to think some one wolud do the good deed and phone the police :y :y :yplus it would get taken away anyway for no road tax

omega's still get stolen thief's now nick the key's aswell plus its not taxed :y :y :yand how would you feel if it was your car,i would be pissed if some one stole mine, do the good deed phone the police :y :y :y

On the other hand though, Imagine YOU just bought it and were taking it home and all of a sudden *snap* cam belt goes :( and you can't get a tow there and then....
Would be an even bigger slap across the face if someone has had it towed.
Not having a pop mate - just putting my opinion across. :y

Yep, that happened to a car around here last week. One day they stuck a clamp on it and big yellow DVLA "This Car is Not Taxed" sticker and 24 hours later they came along with a lorry and off it went to the crusher (I assume).
Haven't done anything yet about the ex-plod, been a bit busy this afternoon.
Perhaps someone on here has access to the PNC.. ::)

yep you can't get away with the tax now,mines due at the end of this month,got the reminder at the begining of the month,boy ar the d.v.l.a. on the ball,and they have camera's to check if you have tax now aswell :y :y :y

as there's no tax and its unfamiliar in your street, worth reporting
people steal cars by getting keys these days...

If the car had broken down then they would have at least put a 'Broken Down' sign in the window. At least that way the police would know why it is there, yes I know there is no tax on the car but if you have just bought the car and can prove you had bought the car then that will suffice, BUT you still need to inform the police of this to make them aware of the situation then have it removed asap.
And thtas my two peniths worth! So there!!!!!!!!!

No, it's on an estate, albeit less than 1/4 mile from the A1...and it's parked uphill.

I forgot about that, I know someone who got a crosser for free a couple of years ago, right outside his house it was - in the middle of the road, the police think someone was riding it on the road drunk in the small hours, fell off and ran.

I would suggest report it to the police, main reason that it may be stolen/abandoned. Someones pride and joy may be have gone AWOL...
Also remember as it appears untaxed it may also be uninsured. Perhaps the latest owner simply has not managed to sort such niceties out yet but if that person or some passing ringpiece who breaks into it, drives off or releases the handbrake and hits you or your car/propery, then there is no insurance payout and your pocket suffers.....
My family fleet of 4 cars and 2 motorbikes are all taxed, MOT'd, insured and road legal. Whether you agree with the taxation of vehicles etc or not, I know it irks me and others when some do not pay their share of the way.... ::)

do i spy damage to the n/s wing? the trim under the headlight is out of place aswell, not to mention the obvious state of the drivers door mirror
not very well looked after if thats actually not stolen!

Phone the police this morning. It's an ex-Essex Constabulary car which was sold at auction. The police have no interest in the vehicle (not reported stolen) and they have referred it to the London Borough of Barnet. Apparently a local resident reported it yesterday, too. Looks like it will be towed away and crushed. :'(

I found a stolen motorbike just over a year ago. I phoned the police and they didn't want to know. I told them that if it stays there it will get nicked again.
I ended up putting it in my back garden. I eventually tracked down the owner, who said he was happy to let his insurance deal with it. He gave me his insurance company details. To cut a long story short I managed to get £250 from the insurance company for storage of the bike :y

If the Council do things the same down there as up here then it will get either a 7 day or 21 day notice to remove it or it will be towed away.
That should be enough of an incentive for an unlucky owner to get his or her digit removed and shift the car.

Not my fault! A resident had already spoken to the police about it. Knowing the location of the car, its overall state and the absence of audio equipment and tax disc, I don't think that there's any "poor owner" out there. It's been deliberately dumped in the hope that someone else can get rid of it.
