Title: Where to buy rear shocks please.
Post by: Chopsdad on 02 July 2007, 20:14:08
Mark's DTM noticed my rear shocks were leaking at the Lakes meet and could do with replacing...so where is best?

None listed on Autovaux or Ebay.  2003 2.2 Saloon.

Cheers  :y

My local factor does KYB shocks and have fitted them on mine (gas shocks) and relatively cheap as I remember, so maybe worth a try at your local motor factor.
Cheers Pete

i'd vote GM, the 2.2 is never exactly going to be pushed hard at high speed into corners.

If the GM ones have lasted 4 years, worth replacing them with another set! (unless i think KYB made the shocks for GM?)

assuming that 2.2 shocke = 2.0 shocks
www.buypartsby.co.uk = £21.74 +VAT for KYB gas adjust shock - delivery is £6.50

You would want the Exel-G's as the Gas-adjust ones are for self leveling suspensions.

Halfruads did me proud with a pair of Monroe gas dampers [non adjustable] for about £88; this is for a late 90's estate.

iirc   gas - a - just are just heavier duty shocks filled with N2. Shocks for adjustable/self levelling  suspension have to be bought from Vxll - but please check with buypartsby. cheers

eurocarparts (60 stores nationwide they claim!) I bought apair of gas ones for 10.99 plus vat last saturday, there are on sepecial offer in their "summer specials" brochure. you can ring your local branch and check stock and price so you don't have awasted journey or they deliver. but make sure you get them to change the price to the offer price.  estate ones from memory were a quid more ;)

KYB Excel-G £18.80 + Vat at Buypartsbuy = £52.05 delivered

Euro car parts at £10.99 + Vat sound tempting - what's the postage cost veralum?  They don't seem to have Vauxhall listed as a major manufacturer  :-/
