Hi I have a 95 2.5td elite estate,
today on the way home from work i dipped the throttle vpedel down to activate the kick down and it very slowly built up the revs then cut out on me.
After a few seconds of cranking it over in park it started again and rev'd fine so i put it in drive and off i went again till i tried to engage kick down and it did it again
any idea's ???????????????

The quickest and easiest thing is to change fuel filter.
Though I suspect a pump problem...

cheers for the help
i must admit it is fine on gentle accletration but as soon as you go in kick down it doesnt like it and stalls

Could still be the pump, under hard acceleration the pump would have to work harder.
Change the fuel filter, any ideas when it was last done?

Critical to change filter regular on diesel, as it traps the moisture (hence why it has a water drain on it), and if this water gets to the injectors, it scores them...

just limped the beast down to the fuel station and put 20 litres in now she is running fine again so it def sounds like a fueling issue any ideas how much a new pump would be???

As said, change the filter first if you do not know when last changed. Also chuck in some diesel magic (£5 from Halfords), and fill the new filter with it (chuck remainder in the tank)...

cheers will do that tommorow i did dump a load of diesel magic in the tank tonight
just been outside and the pump at the pack seems to make a hell of a racket so it sounds like this may be at fault

Not sure, there may be a gauze at the end of the pick up pipe in the tank....

It's a smelly job changing the pump in the boot so run the fuel level down before doing it & if you have any wear surgical gloves. (new pumps are not cheap)
