Title: Smokin'...
Post by: duggs on 16 July 2007, 20:11:49
I'm probably looking for problems that aren't there....and as a result this may be a really dippy question.

After the engine has warmed up and left running, once removed, smoke comes from the oil filler hole and
dip stick hole....

I assume this is because the oil is "soddin hot" and heat produces smoke...doesn't really smell much though..so am
hoping this is normal....

Am I worrying for nothing ??

:y  hi there            car not breathung right
you need to clean the breathers out and replace the fire trap at the back
of the cam cover on the right, also renew or clean the pipe going
down to the block..  then oil and filter change
 should be ok

mick :y

OOOOOOO....Well least the oil and filter is changed ? Did that about 6 weeks ago and to be honest the oil on the dip stick looks as fresh now as if it has only just been put in.

Cleaned the pipe just now....was a little gunged up.

I need to find a nice soul, local to Ipswich somewhere who will do the breather clean for some pocket money next.  Had a near disaster a short while ago when I tried it myself ???

The V6 engine bay seems so cluttered to me....unless something is waving at me...I can't seem to find a thing.

mick - good advice of course - but I think you are referring to 2.0 in the details.  There's a guide on cleaning the 2.5 on here.
