That is the question.
I am going to clean my throttle body and breathers on the weekend as per the maintenance guide. Definately, no excuses rain or shine. I've even ordered the gaskets from Vx dealer today and they will be in on Friday.
The real question is should I use gasket seal on the new gaskets and if so what should I use? Also the recommended torque setting of 9nm for the throttle body doesn't seem very tight and my new torque wrench doesn't go that low. Could I just tighten it carefully and hope for the best?
OK thats two questions :y

Sealent is not required.
As for the bolts, just nip them up....dont be tempted to make them tight you only need to compress the rubber seal and get the mating surfaces to touch.
-
As MDTM says, no sealent. 9Nm is just a 'nip', easy to strip...

I prefer your answer to STMO123's so I don't need a baby torque wrench then.
And I've just got my third star [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] Life truly is sweet on OOF.

As much as I feel that a set of torque wrenches are an essential in all tool boxes given the massive use of alloy parts on modern items....... I like to offer an altenative as a short term measure.

Yep Finger Tight and then Nipped up
And As Said No Sealant needed on the Gasket Which Is just a Paper One on the 4 pot Throttle body just clean the two surfaces well so there is no junk on there

Just a thought. Should I use sealant on the breather sump gasket?
