Title: aux belt tension release

How do you release the tension on the aux belt? Do you turn the 15mm nut on the pulley clockwise?

Yes, you need a good 15mm ring spanner.

and remmber your not undoing it, when you feel the tension release on the bolt you will be able to slip the belt off... :y

thanks. Another quick one. Aux belt tensioner bolts look a bit awkward to get at. I can get a socket on the top one but cant get anything onto the socket. There is a large metal water pipe above and a small, I think, metal air pipe below. It is the lower pipe that is obstructive, can this be moved or is there a tool for the job?

3/8 drive socket and 3" extension always works for me, its a bit awkward but there is access to both bolts. I wonder if someone has bent the air injection pipe previously.

sounds like it - as matchless mentions access although "tight" is resonable with correct adaptors...

yeeehaa.  Tensioner changed. Only thing now, getting the belt back over the tensioner pulley. Any easy way, can I slacken something else as well as the tensioner?

no, if you have released the tensioner theres no need to remove anything, push back on the tnsioner and slip the belt back on, another parid of handse can be usefull...

Just make sure you include everything and that the belt is back on the same way ( or even better replace it)

I only slipped the belt off the tensioner. Belt is in good condition, so will leave it. I've had 2 pairs of hands at it, taken up all the tension from the tensioner and it just will not go back over the pulley. :question :question

wow what a difference. That was defo past its sell by date. No slack to take up when you blip the throttle now.


Thanks for help again everybody. Off to do plugs now. There is just no stopping me  ;D
