Hi
The headlights on my 99 2.5 V6 have a sort of "scale", "film" or "scum" identical to that you get on shower tiles, probably due to the fact the water round here is so hard, if you don't speak to the tap nicely it comes out in lumps !! :
Now, the local DIY merchants have a "descaling gel" for use on vertical surfaces, as any other descaler would just run off .... the question is ..... is this stuff safe to use on miggy headlights ?? I'd hate to wreck them and have to replace the whole unit !!
Any one any ideas .. or other solutions (no pun intended !! ) :)
regards and thanks

I have used T cut on mine to get rid of it OH and lots of elbow grease ;) depends how bad they are really though. :y

MDTM recommends wet and dry, start with 800-1000, then a bit of 1200, then t-cut. Lots of elbox grease reqd.

Or you could take the headlights out, take the lens off then stick them in the dishwasher!! I did this and they came up not bad better than what they did look like. I tried the wet and dry treatment but it seemed to make it worse so I might need to get them done by someone who knows what they are doing (and thats not me when it comes to using wet and dry). ;D ;D
Cheers Paul :y

In the Aircraft industry we used to use a plastic polish.
You must very careful not to scratch the lens or you will
make it worse.
No idea if the the product in the following link is any good, I'm
just using it as an example of what I mean and do not endorse
it's effectiveness.
As in previous replies, lots of elbow grease required.

No idea why that link isn't working.
No doubt it's some dumb thing that I've done :(
I'll post it again here in plain form that you can copy and paste into
your browser address bar and see if that works.

Ah! It's worked properly this time by just pasting it.
Knew it would be me doing something dumb as usual. :-[

Thanks Grumpy... I've got some similar stuff used for cleaning fast jet canopies .. :), it polishes the clean bits up great, but won't shift the lime scale .. I might try a tad of this gel very carefully .. it is approved for plastic baths so can't be that strong ... hopefully :)
If you see a request in the sales and wants for a new headlight ... gues what !!!!
