hi all i have an omega 2.0 16v normally aspirated meega.
i was wondering when i get it sorted would it be possible to put a turbo on it? as like the car but could do with a bit more power!!!
and if so how much wouldi be looking at?

I think you'd be better off changing yours for a V6 one.
The engine has too high a compression to take much boost without serious internal mods, there will be lots of challenges to overcome along the way, and it's always going to be a less reliable option than a manufacturer engineered model.
Tuning mods would be fair enough if you had a 3.0 / 3.2 and wanted more power but while there's a standard car that will give you what you want it's not a path to tread, IMO.

how much would i be looking at for one of them!!!
i'm thinking about getting rid of the car. don't really want to but it's costing me a fortune, but if i can get rid now an get some cash bk then might consider v6. but if i can get work done cheap enough then i'll keep it, if anyone live in leeds and can do work cheap then pm me.

If anything second hand values on the 4 pot Omegas hold up at least as well if not better than the V6s due to lower running costs, so you could probably get a similar spec and condition V6 for what you make on yours, give or take a bit. I'm no expert in car prices, however.
Best to test drive some V6 Omegas and decide if it's the route you want to take, IMO.

He He He....If you think the 2 litre is expensive...wait till you get a V6....Much more fun though.
I have a 2 litre W Vectra Sri and it STILL doesn't give me the buzz that I get when I drive my V6 Omega.

As others have said, chop in for V6 is best option. MPG won't be much worse, unless you rag it everywhere. Insurance will be higher though. V6 is normally reliable unit if looked after...

I'd go for a C20LET using the Omega sump and pickup. 300 BHP very easy achievable. :y

Remember dragging 1.7 tonnes around needs a lot of torque, not sure what torque the C20LET can reach throughout the rpm range...

As the std KKK16 turbo acheives full boost by 2500RPM you can expect around 300 - 320lb/ft of torque with a front mounted intercooler and chips. So plenty ;)

But until the turbo is on boost, what toque can you expect from it?

Nowhere near as a v6 thats for sure.
Ive had a c20let powered car before (astra mk1) , and yes they are fast , very fast top end , but before the turbo kicks in(lag) , its not that good , and in a car that weighs as much as an omega i wouldt touch one.
Much better to have a v6 and whack on a supercharger or twinturbo if you must have a turbo
Remember though , adding a turbo robs low end torque before the turbo kicks in and adding more boost , robs even more power.

Omegatoy had a 3.0l V6 with a turbo on it. Never did get to have a go in it, but he said it had the torque before the turbo started singing, as a decent engine to start with...

Yeah , the v6 has about 190 something torque to start so even if it robbed 10% with the turbo low down it would still have at least 171.
The c20xe has about 156 i think so down to 140 torque , quite a difference , plus the v6 makes it torque a different way doesnt it.
i would say out of all the different engine tyes i have had (4pot, v6, v8, v12, i6), i would say the v6 is the best overall.
The v8 just too thirsty , the v12 , amazing but costs £10 to do 15-20 miles (mine did anyway) , i6 nice but too heavy an engine and 4pot just too revvy, gutless

Looking at these 2 graphs the x30xe has more torque @ 1000 RPM but from just under 2000RPM up to 5000RPM the LET is much more solid, this is where you spend most of your driving. As said, the LET is also far easier to tune and with a couple of small mods, the difference in torque would be substantial.

That will be horrid to drive, too peaky. Maybe fine when I was 17 ;)
Any turbo is easily tunable - just keep whacking up the boost until the engine breaks. Problem with smaller engines, is as you up the boost, the low down torque goes, hence the nasty, thrash-it-everywhere, turbos such as Renault 5, RS Turbo etc that are awful when chipped up, unless you are ragging everywhere.
Omega is too heavy to have a peaky engine in.
So if I was to turbo an Omega, I would start with a bigger engine, ie 3.0l

Absolutely ::) So many people forget that everything that applies for tuning a NA engine applies in equal measure to a Turbo engine. Yes, you can turn up the boost, fit a bigger turbo, etc and get more power at the top end but, as with all engine tuning, you lose something elsewhere.
Also, when looking at Turbo torque curves remeber that in real life that torque is only available when the Turbo is spinning! Torque output on a V6 is there as soon as the throttle's open!
A mate of mine bought a Westfield with a Cossie Turbo engine which had all the toys, a very well regarded chip tuning package, bigger turbo and was allegedly making 340 BHP or so. It had massive lag and a horrendous step in the torque delivery right in the midrange which made it feel 'kin fast as the boost came in but in reality it was undriveable on the track.
He took it back to first principles, ported the head, fabricated a better inlet plenum, fitted a correctly sized turbo and a decent engine management system that can do proper closed loop boost pressure control. It now really does make 340BHP, at half the boost pressure as previously required, it's much quicker, runs cooler, and has a lovely flat torque curve.
The other issue is refinement. The V6 really is so much more refined than a highly strung turbo 4 pot would be. Fine, if the car is only for racing that doesn't matter but for road use I know what I'd prefer.
