any know why me dash lights would just stop working ?? its a 99 cd all switches out too but car lights working fine !! tia mark :y
-
There should be a fuse for the interior lights matey...have a test od your fuses first.
-
checked all fuses interior light is working fine bud ?? :'(
-
Are the aircon panel lights still working??? Try pushing the dash between the speedo and revcounter in harder, as this is where the push fit connecter lives for the dash.
-
no mate all lights are out except heater vent bulbs :'( doing my head in now !! changed dash unit and checked bulbs as well even changed main light switch unit !!
-
Fuse 15 or 20 should be the ones for instrument lights. Does everthing else work- radio, windows, mirrors, curtosey lights, fag lighter etc...... If so then i think there might be a voltage rectifier unit that lowers the voltage for these smaller bulbs and my guess would be that thats whats at fault.
When you say you changed the dash, did you change the whole clock assy ????
-
yep whole dash pod ! have checked all fuses with meter all check out ok and everything else works fine bud !! :'(
-
Only thing i can now think of is the big push in connector for the dash, make sure all the spring clips are still intact and that they are springy enough to make good contact with the dash pod.
-
One other thing that has just come to mind is...can you try another main light switch, cos the reostate that dims the dash lights might be faulty.

That was my first thought. The rheostat often caused problems with Senators & Carltons (& my Dad's MkII Granny ::))

The replacement dash, did it come from post 98 (electrically different to earlier ones), with same engine (config different, not that that will cause your current issue)
-
tried all that lads same year minifacelift dash main light switch no difference !! have mabye noticed today that the power steering is quite heavy at low speeds dont if the two are connected !! :'(
-
Ok.....need to check but, from memory...
The lights are not fed directly by a 'rheostat', they go via a relay.......which does the dimming.

how does a relay dim?
-
no worries chaps sold it last night !!!! :y :y
-
Its not a relay in the strictist sense, its a Mosfet with PWM drive......
Any way, I must have been thinking of the Astra/Cav as its built into the headlight switch on the Omega
