Only cam cover gaskets....

ok i have replaced the rocker cover gasket the old one didnt appear to be split however cleaned a couple of the the breather hoses and replaced the big one at the front as it has gone all squidgy, should i have noticed oil splurting back in to the spark area straight away as i took it for a run or is it a time thing??
if i should have done then the job has been successful as i cant see any oil in the spark wells.

sounds like job's a good one :y
keep an eye on it over time. It would have to be leaking badly for it to be visible straight away.
If all ok may well be worth changing your plugs as the oil will likely have damaged them (and possibly leads) if it had been there for any time.

Isn't this caused by the throttle body breather getting blocked?. This then pressurises the system and blows the gasket. If this isn't cleared then the new gasket will go again. There is a 'how to' in the maintenance section.

Make sure you use Genuine GM gaskets as the aftermarket ones are pants >:(

thanks all, breathers have all been cleaned, genuine vx gasket used and i replaced the plugs it seem to be running good now (im touching wood!!!!!) if a little smokey but to be expected owing to the amount of oil in that region, although i did syringe as much out as possible.
Thanks to all for your help testimony to how damn useful these sites are i would have probably out it in the garage to do so ive saved a fortune!!!!! ;D

hi there
Did you clean out the little breather hole in the throttle body, the small pipe from the front left (looking from the front) cam cover goes to it, this can get clogged solid, also clean the big pipe at the back right and the ICV.
