I managed to make SWMBO not get a pug.... took her to see a 2001 X Plate Skoda Fabia 1.4, it was like new inside. First owner was a disabled guy, then a single in his 30's took it.
There was not a mark on the interior, spot less. Drove like new, same engine intertior components as the Polo, and felt very solid.
60k miles, air-con, leccy mirrors and windows, 5 door, new tyres all around.... got him down to £1,800 for it.
:)

Is it made of cake and icing?
-
MUCH better than a Pug, Tunnie!
Nicely persuaded.... ;) ;D
-
Like the bit when they try and put the jelly rear lights in!!!
Should be a reliable car :y
-
MMMM CAKE!!! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
-
that'll be why it's in brand new condition
it could have been seriously accident damaged and they baked a new front end for it :y
seriously... good choice, practically a volkswagen 1.4 which as far as i know.. cant go wrong with!
-
so you see Tunnie, SWMBOs are not really SWMBOs they just think they are.
Nicely manipulated, im not going to ask how you managed it :D
-
good choice, glad you persuaded her from getting that horrible french thing ;D ;D ;D,much better car, good one :y :y :y
-
Well done its a good car, a friend of mine has one thrashes the rear end off of it, never goes wrong on him
lets hope you have the same luck :y
-
thanks, i was impressed by it.
My grandparents have an '04 plate VW Polo, and it felt exactly the same, 90% of the interior trim was the same, it felt as well built as the VW, very tidy car, engine was sweet as a nut.
Just hope its good for her, as i chose it. She liked it so much, she bought it then and there. She got half her family to get out cash and bring it over so she could buy it then.
We gazumpt some people who saw it first, then came back, but we were already there. So I stayed and kept the seller busy while she went off and organised the readies.
Think we got a good price, some later AT searching, most where over 2k, 2.9k at dealers for same age and spec. So pleased with 1.8 :)
-
Yes i agree very good price, as the car is quite sort after, good fuel consumption cheap Insurance, well
done. and as for the Mileage my friend has done 150,000km in 5 years, never seen the inside of a garage
yet, apart from the Servicing :y :y
-
Well done Tunnie, good cars, and i hope for your sake it stays that way ;)

Only Skoda owners ever say 'its really a VW' ;D

When the Fabia was first introduced it was the best small car of that group, much better than the Polo

Nope - as found out by the press and by people who work with the buggers
My dad at the time was at a Skoda & Subaru dealership when it came out.
He also found a design fault with the brakes (master cylinder and servo combinations)

Well I can't remember the details, but they sold shedloads of them and they were a lot better than the Polos.
THe brake problem was a mismatch which stopped the system allowing new fluid into the brake system as the pads wore.
