Title: broken gear lever

i`ve tried to change my gear knob this afternoon after being told it just unscrews after 5 mins of huffing an puffing i came to conclusion they dont come off so i decide to leave alone only to find i cant select reverse now...  :( any ideas on how to put it right?

manual...its the lifter to enable reverse to be selected it doesn`t engage any more

i`ve come to the conclusion i`ve gotta change the complete lever as i don`t see any other way of getting reverse gear back again so it looks like a lot of ringing of the local breakers yards 2mora  :(

found a gear lever at last an a very helpful vauxhall only breakers he took it off the car for me an even told me how to fit it ;D so the rest of the afternoon i`ll be under the mota trying to fit it..fingers crossed..   great i`ve dun it its on it works an i`m happy cause i was able to do it on my own with just the few swear words in between ::)
