Anyone know why my V6 would make a whooshing noise when booting it past 4k rpm?
Could i have a damaged breather pipe?
It seems to have occured since changing my cat back boxes over the weekend, but i guess the blowing exhaust could have been hiding the whoosing noise.
The car seems to run quite well...

Dual ram opens up at about 4k rpm
That did cross my mind, although i never thought i would be able to hear it. When i do hear the wooshing it feels like the car is about to take off, so i guess the dual-ram is doing it's job.

Hi, my 2.5 V6 makes the same noise, I thought it was maybe something to do with a breather as it sounds a bit like it's air being sucked through a small pipe and gets louder to almost a whistling at the top of the rev range, my 3.0 V6 is a lot quiter though, was going to get it looked at at the next service..... but that isn't for a little while.

I had an exhaust like a string vest and timing kit needing doing. Also a noisy water pump and aux belt tensioner. Now that all of these have been changed I now have the woooosh sound. Boy have I missed it and it is reassuring too have it back :y
