the matrix is in the heater assembly behind the dash, i have never done one, but have been told it is a dash out job.

I dont believe the issues you have would be caused by a faulty matrix

The passenger side is very hot but the drivers side is cold. What could cause this? :-?

it could  be a blockage in the matrix system. sure you can flush then out, but not 100% somebody else should be able to confirm

Could a blockage in the matrix, cause it to work perfectly well in the passenger side but not at all in the drivers side? By the way the air con works spot on. :-/

yes because blockage could be onh drivers side so can't heat that side, not 100% though. could be hbv.
