Title: TC Card
Post by: sluggi on 31 July 2007, 23:32:22
Hi all,

How do you apply for a TC card, I have 4 vauxhall's in my family and this would help no end ;)

The easy way is to join autobahnstormers club (its for 6 cylinder cars but I guess you could qualify on the total in all your cars ;D)  I think there are other clubs (VBOA?) who also provide TC benefits.  Cost is about £20 I believe.

Alternatively,  go into your Vx parts place,  buy a couple of cheap bits - oil filter or something - and pursuade the service manager that you do a lot of servicing of Vauxhalls and can he get you a TC card...  he can only say no..

ABS is probably the best club, and fastest normally to get card out.
MIG seem to take a while to get cards out.
AFAIK, VXON have never sent out TC cards, despite several promises.

Only downside of getting TC cards through clubs is that you don't get access to price list info such as 'The Book' or the online lists.

I joined Vxon before I found OOF  ::) I have a Halfords TC through them it cost £15 if  I remember correctly to become a full member and the card was part of the pack they sent out . I have already saved that by using the card  :)

I joined MIG took about 3 weeks for card to arrive - it was Christmas though.
Also got a password for www.tradeclub.co.uk
Membership cost £10.00 or £15.00  ?

Same here.  It would be nice to be able to access the trade site.

Used the card many times and have saved time and time again so well worth the £20.

Also I mentioned the ABS TC at local Vauxhall and they said they never heard of them and I would get as much discount for workin at BCJ :-?

HG not, cambelt kit is.

If your dealer does Tradeclub (check at www.tradeclub.co.uk), they will take the ABS card - it has the TC membership number on.

Got my 20 litres of semi synth oil on trade club today and they gave me one rather great 20 litre tub of oil rather than 4 5l cans  >:(

Bloke had scurried off to lunch before I noticed what he'd brought out for me :(

Looks like my garage floor's going to be getting slippery again while I try and decant it!

Still, crank sensor arrived so that's tonight's job, along with an oil change perhaps :y

What does the trade site do for you? Can you get part numbers for the trade deals so you don't end up with something slightly different to what you thought you asked for?  ::)

I always take a little printout with me of what I want in part no's if I have em and a description
ie 4x5l semi oil (4 for 3 on trade cub)

Had you have got the 4 x 5l, it would have cost £30 inc VAT due to 4 for 3 offer. Did you pay more?

Not significantly so. It was 30.77+VAT, discounted from 87.00 + VAT :o so it was a fiver more :(

As it is I covered my hair and the garage floor in used oil making a complete Horlicks of removing the oil filter so a little more clean oil farting about trying to pour from a 20l can made no odds ;D

After behaving for a couple of days it flatly refused to start when I went to move it into the garage for the crank sensor change so I left it to cool with the bonnet open for a while and it went in the end. All done now :y

Right, off for a shower. Think I'll chuck some Gunk in the header tank first. Shampoo 'aint going to cut it.  ::)

I think TC discount (on the things which are on TC - generally service type items, but also incl exhausts, rads..)) is much more than normal trade, so well worth getting IMHO.

I joined ABS, got membership card with their TC number on it. My dealer just frowned & said they should'nt be giving it out.
Although they said at time of joining that they had arrangement with certain participating dealers.
They did give me discount though that time using another members details. Find it all frustrating as like most i would prefer to use genuine parts.

All participating dealers (virtually all Vx dealers), will and must accept the ABS card.  If they are unsure, they need to call their TC rep.

Hi,

Ive gotta buy the following tomorrow to fix mine :

Camcover gaskets
O Rings
Spark Plugs
Sealant

Roughly £75-£80 worth.

If i joined ABS and got the TC card through before buying them am i likely to get my £20 membership fee back in the savings i will make on these parts?

I reckon you'd save about a tenner.  The only trade club item is the plugs,  the others you would get normal trade price which is obviously discounted but not as much as the TC items.   However buy 4 cans of oil for 30 quid at the same time and you'd be well up.

I joined Autobahnstormers about 6 months ago. Got the TC card and have saved way more than cost of membership already......I would definitely recommend joining..... :y

Also, when I received the card, I e-mailed trade club with my details (club name and membership no. plus TC card no.) and they sent out a password to use on the tradeclub site.... ;D
