Title: Buying elite?
Post by: a2reed on 16 August 2007, 20:21:39
I am looking to buy a 2000 + elite or CDX... as far as I can see there is no difference....is there? and if so what is it?

Also did they make a diesel elite?

Yep they made a diesel elite, last of the 2.5 BMW ones are 2000, in 2001 the Vauxhall 2.2 Diesel came in, this was available in the Elite, in manual form only.

Elite spec over CDX is - Memory seats, mirrors, sunroof, Bose sound system, 17" alloys, rear spolier, phone / sat nav system, leather optional on 2.5v6, standard on 3.0v6

Not on the first of them, they had the 4 disc multichanger in the dash CCR2006 i think
as they were running them out i wouldn't have been surprised if they upspecced them a bit in order to make them more saleable

Not on all the last of 'em either! We have a late 2003 Elite DTi estate and the only thing that's missing is satnav ::) (was an option)

Heated rear seats on elite also. I've seen velour as a no-cost 'option'(!) on quite a number of elites as well.

Oh, and if you're fancying a 3.2 or 3.0 engine, that'll be Elite as well (also on MV6)

In the 2003 brochure :-

Sat Nav NCDR2013 with BOSE was standard only on the 3.2 Elite, 2.6 Elite had CCR2006 with BOSE but could be upgraded to 2013 as an option

CID Display was always an option
2015 (with telematics - phone) was an option

Also auto gearbox, rear heated seats, dual pipe exhaust, all standard on Elite and optional on CDX. And Chromatic rear-view mirror?

And a quiz... which is the one feature which was only ever standard on the CDX but not on any other model including the Elite?

Clue: I have a CDX and I don't have this feature...  ;)

Oooh crikey, that's a tricky one!?! The one thing unique to CDX was the 16" CDX wheels, not really my cup of tea though.

NEWSFLASH

I have just spotted on our 2003 Elite and it has, wait for it, a leather, yes LEATHER, handbrake lever  8-) Ooooh errr missus  :P Put THAT in your CDX pipe and smoke it  ;)

Well worth the extra cash imo  ;D

Come to think of it... some 'special editions' such as the Reflection had it as well.

Arghhhh!

OK, here's another one:

This is a feature you wouldn't normally expect to find on a 4-door car, but a similar (though not identical) one is common for coupés...

Title: Re: Buying elite?
Post by: Markjay on 19 August 2007, 14:11:57
....also, I had it on my previous Reflection, but I don't have it on my current CDX because it is apparently excluded by another option which I do have, and which is standard on the Elite but optional on all other models... does this help?  ;D

Damn! Can't believe I missed that and i'm sorry to spoil all your fantastic jokes  ::)

Fold flat front seat of course - I thought I'd read above though that this feature was common for couples Yes, I can see how this might be handy for couples  ;D

And the one thing everybody else has missed??? (Apart from rain sensitive wipers mentioned above - very good imho)

Present only on Elite...

Speed sensitive steering  :y
(great for parking)

It's the leather trim in my case.... no electrical pack.

No electric, as in memory selection? That was a bit tight!

Is it just elite that has self levelling suspension?

Memory seats and self-levelling suspension are standard on Elite but optional on CDX.

The height adjustment is electric but forward/back and recline are manual.

I thought that all leather trim had the electric adjustment which is what deleted the fold flat facility.  You learn something new everyday!

I have been pondering on this for the past 6 years and atill can't quite see what would stop Vx from having the very convenient fold-flat facilty co-exist with leather trim.

Also, I have the sales brochure that specifies the fold-flat on the CDX and it does NOT say that you loose it when you order leather...

I guess Vx thought that suit-wearing exec-type people who sepcify leather don't mix with the blue-overalls ladder-carrying rif-raf!  ;D

No, only elites had the memories. Leather order on others were manual (unless leccy pack also ordered).
