please help my 2l seems to have a misfire problem on motoway its fine no problems but it starts around town drivin on low revs if the revs are held about 3000 revs it holds ok any lower or from a stand still it seems to misfire any ideas as im 250miles from home with limited tools but have aa if needed
any ideas to anyone thanxs

Make sure all plug leads are firmly home.
Small can WD40 on plug leads to dispel moisture.
In fact, spray all connections (not drown them, but a good spray just the same) to ensure dry.
My thoughts, no doubt others may have others.

have replaced plugleads 2day but didnt solve problemcould it be to the plugs failing under load as it runs smooth and ok when idleing

OK..... If problem is new after lead replacement, then it looks like the leads or their connections are suspect. Retrace your steps and, if needs be, replace leads with the old ones. Are the new leads brand spankers new or robbed from another car? Check running in the dark with no lights, torches or otherwise to see if there is an HT breakdown. Don't touch with your finger when you find the extra lightening spark arc - its a few gazzillion volts (its the amps that kills ya, not the volts, apparently....!) but certainly gives you a wee jolt.... :y
If new leads were to sort the problem but have failed to do so, you must therefore look elsewhere - sucking eggs, I know, but humour me a wee tad. Its late on a Sunday and I've had some red wine......
Have plugs been removed? If so, remove again and ensure gaps ARE correct and not assumed. Make sure dispack (is there one on a 2 litre?) has all good connections. Remove connections and replace a couple of times to ensure good contacts.
I still suspect, like TB, something on high tension (plugs/leads) side rather than anything else....

they are brandnew plug leads sparkpugs were taken out lastweekend when cambelt was changed they looked ok will try to look at them in a min going back home 2nite so im hoping to sort it before i leave maybe time to try replacing spark plugs
hope i dont need the aa half way home

DIS pack is the other thing in the HT system, albeit expensive one.

well new leads now new plugs its better but not right so now it must be the dis pac thats all thats left all connections are ok no damp or oil anywhere hope to make it back home fingers crossed

well made it back to the sunny south west no problems all the way down on the m-way all ok no misfiring but as soon as i came of the m-way and the revs dropped below 3000 it juddered again could it still be the dis pac or somthin else i know the fuel filter has not ben change for a while could this be a cause does the fuel pump increase in pressure the faster you go so at lower revs the pressure is not so great may be a slight blockage does that make sence i will wait for a all knowing one to come along :y

what can of mileage is it?
2.0 DIS pack is about 40 quid on trade club as I recall, not too bad if it fixes it but it may not.
Its worth removing it (easy enough on 2L) and checking for obvious damage (they tend to split) or contamination (coolant from HBV, or oil from failed camcover seals) which can lead to it breaking down.
May also be worth a compression test and see what that throws up.

will check dis pac hopefully 2morrow its just failed mot on hole in exhaust that all thank god
if it was a compression fault surly it would be there all the time not just the lower end of the revs ::)
