Cruise + c.d. £10 = Bargain Result :y
-
Great bargain for a £10, is there a difference in the cabling on the stalk with the facelift? If I can get cruise on mine (02 CD dti) for a simular price, I would be well happy :y

no difference in cabling, but hit and miss if cruise enabled in ecu....
-
Sorry missed your PM omegaman :-[ Been in and out all the time but great news you've got it done. It IS one of the best mods around :y
Tell you what, to any of you omega drivers that tow with your cars, this makes SUCH a difference! Hills are not a problem at all and bizarrely, it seems to give the car more power! I guess not, but it isn't quite so tiresome on long journeys. Top job!

Well not quite a Tenner, £18 for whats looks like a new stalk, fitted in a matter of minutes and then took it for a spin up the road, low and behold " all works" cruise, brake/clutch etc yep hee ;D
My car is also 2.2dti manual (2002)

£18 for a 2nd hand stalk :o
About £30 new from dealer when it fails (and it will)...

When I said "looks like new" thats what i assume it is, sealed in plastic, in the box, I am just surprised that I would get one (new?) for that price, either way I have now got cruise at a bargin price, no pedal switches or "real" tech2 work needed. :y
-
Interesting :-? No tech 2 required!
Where did you get the stalk from alan? Tis quite a nice feeling when you get a new 'toy' to play with ;D
I love The Boy, ever the optimist! :D

Phew! Good news :y
2nd hand stalks don't last..
-
From this ebay shop:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/vauxhallpartsuk
i could have waited or looked for secondhand items, but could not wait. It seems that all the diesel cars have cruise enabled? :)

2.5TD is enabled - or rather there is no setting (on a 2.5TD the ecu actually constantly stores an error that the stalk is missing on non cruise cars).
The 2.0DTi/2.2DTi - not done on Omega, but have on other cars such as Astra-G/Zaffy etc, and had to enable...
I'll have to see if M_DTM has done a 2.2DTi Omega yet.

You can't just say they don't last! ;D
It depends how they're used! I know a bloke who has cruise fitted in his 2000 3.0 Estate, done 35k and he's never switched the cruise on!
My second hand stalk has lasted 2 years, it's shiny, barely any writing but it works ok!

It will start buy putting on full beam intermittently....
-
We'll see!
VX got a bit protective when asked to fit the cruise on ours. Came back and said they couldn't do it. Thought i'd try it meself one day, bingo, plug and play! Thought they had enabled it at the garage though!?!

I foolishly bought a 2nd hand one for my CD, it now doesnt always (about 90% of the time) cancel the indicator on a left turn.......never had a prob with full beam tho....
When i get round to it i will replace with new this time :y
-
^^^^^^^^^^^^
But yours is driven to death! ;D
Having said that, I didn't think taxi driver's used their indicators ::) ;D

I use them all the time........its a pet hate of mine of peeps not bl**dy using them especially at roundabouts! ;)
-
An auntie of ours likes to plan her journey so she doesn't have to make any right hand turns ;D
....even left handers are tricky :-X
-
I got the full cruise kit for 16 quid.
£10 for the cruise box and cable
£1 for the cruise Stalk lol mega cheap dont mind if it knacks at that price :y
£5 for the 4 pin brake switch And Clutch switch.
And the best thing is it works for £16 Yeah :)
-
Got mine for £30 from Ronnies mate Nigel about 3yrs ago - thats for all the bits needed (non DBW engines need the ecu/actuator under bonnet). The stalk obviously didn't last, nor did the 2 ebay replacements. The new one from dealer is much better ;)
-
doe's this work on 2.2 petrol 03 reg as well :o :o
-
The 2.2 is a drive by wire engine, so all you need is the stalk and to get cruise control enabled using a Tech 2.
Kevin

Will need a chat with Tech2. And a clutch switch if manual.
-
Hi all,
Its an auto so will order stalk tomorrow.
Many thanks Kevin. :y
-
Bear in mind there are a couple of different stalks. The one you want has 4 wires leading to a little 4 pin square connector. If you look in the howtos I think there is a post giving the part numbers for facelift cruise control upgrade.

All Omega cruise stalks are the same 4 wire one with the exception of the 2.5TD BMW engine, which needs the 2 wire variant.
