Title: Problem? Help needed
Post by: VX1 on 05 September 2007, 20:14:33
Just cleaned the throttle body on my 2.0ltr 95 miggy, new IACV and now it idles at 2500 rpm and gets hot very quickly. The hoses get so hot I cannot touch them switched the engine off and took the rad cap off and let it just gurggle away (this I take it there was air in the system). Anyway When I replaced the throttle body I noticed that the gasket was torn and a small piece was missing. I assume this is why the car races at 2500 rpm due to sucking in more air than needed. I just want this to be confirmed so I can a new gasket and hope that nothing else is wrong.

Does the IACV have a electric motor like the Zafira does?? If so it takes a while for the ECU to set the IACV to its correct idle speed.
It took 30mins of driving before my Zafira one set itself and that was idling at 4k :o

All done now. Replaced the throttle body gasket and it was fine. Sending the the new IACV back to who I bought it from to get a refund as its no good, makes the idle go upto 2500 rpm then start hunting, put the old one back on and stablised to 900 rpm. As alot of people say on here "Don't buy things like idle valves off ebay buy genuine" I think thats what I will do.
