Post by: bruce_3 on 05 September 2007, 15:38:21
:)Hi everyboby i am new to all this , i wonder if anyone can help me out. 10 months ago my 2.2 diesel blew the turbo and intercooler, since having it replaced (at horrific cost by vauxhall) the turbo has been getting increasingly louder , Dont get me wrong its not deafening but it can easily be heard over the radio when powering uphill etc,can you advice cos the warranty runs out in nov ,cheers .

As it was fitted by a dealer I would take it back and have them check it out.  Get it logged through their system as a fault so that if it does go after 12 months have passed you can still refer back in the hope that they will honour a fix.

As to the noise, in my experience, some whistle, some dont.

if they fitted a new actuater when they fited turbo it will whistle more because you are using full boost ! wereas before it was probly a weak actuater and you were not getting full boost ! did you notice an improvment in perfomance after the new unit was fitted ??  :y

My '94 2.5td Auto doesn't whistle but my '00 2.5td Manual would put Roger Whittaker to shame.  The Manual shows 44.4mpg on 25% town and 75% "A" road work.
Yep, some do...some don't !
