Hi all, newbie here. looking for some advice before i pull the rest of my hair out.
Got a petrol 2.5 v6 cdx 99 (T), just replaced the head gaskets as the oil looked like it had a full tub of margarine in it, while i had the heads off i had them skimmed and pressure tested, renewed the oil cooler and water pump, new timing belt kit new aux belt new head gasket set put it all back together and now its not idleing properly.
When it first starts up it runs fine but after about 10 secs it idles rough took it for a short drive and theres no power there when i put my foot down but it will rev up when stationary. checked all connections and pipes and am 99.9% certain they are where they should be. If i unplug the lambda sensor from the inlet manifold the rvs rise and it runs ok for a bit, checked the lambda sensors in the exhaust down pipe, drivers side was dry and warm (engine had been running for about a min) and the passenger side was wet and cold.
So to save me from a trip to the nut house, can anyone shed any light on it, any help will be greatful

Is your cam timing correct?????? Alternatively, poss major air leak..

Hi dave, thanks for the quick reply.
Did'nt actually do the cam belt myself, just hindered a mechanic mate of mine, if i remember correctly cams 2,3 &4 lined up spot on and cam 1 was about half a tooth out, bottom crank also lined up ok and was no more than 10mm play anywhere on the belt....

1/2 tooth, if thats the case shouldnt cause such a significant drop. Sounds more like an air leak - a very big one...
Retrieve your steps checking all jubilees and it wont harm to pop cam belt cover off to inspect again..

must have slipped more than 1/2 a tooth :-/

Thats the risk of not doing the cambelt properly....
