Title: Dying clutch?
Post by: JayUK on 13 September 2007, 10:24:45
It's all my girlfriends fault...

She's just called to say that she's getting a whining noise when using the clutch and it feels "a little grindy" through the pedal.

Being a pessimist I'm guessing this is the signs of a failing clutch. Now as we have a trip planned over the weekend, I need to get it done fairly pronto.

Any ideas on cost etc? Preferably not from the stealers(!)

It's an ex-plod 3.2 V6 2003

Ta muchly for any info - what would I do without this place!

Retail price for clutch is £130 + VAT, subject to a returnable surcharge if old one can't be refurbished.  Not sure, but guessing 2 - 3hrs labour?

Might be worth simply ringing around some clutch specialists and getting quotes...

First guy I spoke to quoted £230 + vat for the clutch and £120, 3 hrs, labour.

Ouchy!
