Buying that little lot (although most aren't on the list), well worth getting a TC card ;)

goto www.autobahnstormers.co.uk
Print, fill out, and mail the application form, along with a £20 cheque

On past performance you will get a card Fri / Sat, maybe Monday.

gearbox oil depends if its auto (Dexron 3) or manual (Vauxhall special - but I personally wouldn't prioritise this unless its leaking).

however more concern is the blue smoke.   Coming out of the exhaust at the back or around the engine bay (in which case likely leaking camcover seals)?

blue smoke out of exhaust!!!!!!!!!! want to get this sorted asap but don't know what it is! oil in at min is 5-35 i think. been told it needs to be 10-40, and it's a manual

It's either worn cylinder bores/piston rings and/or worn valve guides/valve guide seals.

I don't suppose anything dropped down into your cylinder when your cross threaded
plug blew out of the engine and you had it helicoiled?

Really need a compression test.

lol no nothing fell down it was doing it before i had it helicoiled. how big a job is it to do what you said grumpy??????? if any had gone wouldn't it cause me to lose power. car will do 120mph <on a private road obviously mr police bobbies> wouldn't be able to get that sort of speed if it was one of the would i???

The oil may be a little too thin?

Not if it was the valve guides/seals.
This would require the head to come off to rectify.

Yes if it was Cylinder Bores or Piston Rings.
Major engine work or replacement engine to rectify this.

how big a job is it to do what you said

To test, just requires one of these screwed into the removed Spark Plug
holes to test the compression on each cylinder.

Just depends how much Blue smoke you're getting and when you're
getting it.
If you're only getting it on start-up when the engine is cold, and the gaps
are bigger, then, as 'TheBoy' said, you may get away with a thicker oil
that will be thicker when the oil is cold.

If you get/have a decent screw-in compression tester, not those stupid press-and-hold things :(, then try this ...

1. check compresion of each cylinder and record
2. pour 10cc of redex or similar into each pot, leave for 5-10 minutes
3. retake compressions for each cylinder and record against (1)

If the compression goes up significantly it indicates piston rings / bore problems (the redex is now filling the gaps and giving better compression)

Rule of thumb....

Blue smoke - piston rings..

White smoke - valve stems...
