Title: MOT failure
Post by: JezInBrum on 12 September 2007, 01:48:29
Day of gloom, car failed MOT yesterday afternoon. Rear subframe bushes (both), idler arm bush & a rear brake pipe & most importantly a number plate bulb.
Went to local dealer, bushes ordered fine, idler arm on back order. another carrier pidgeon trip from europe required. Or may have to track one down on ebay.
Ahh the joys or car ownership  ::)
Have toyed with changing the whole subrame but without having it on a ramp must be a bugger of a job dropping all the suspension & removing all those big high torque bolts.
Anyone done one before?

Idler arm can be got from ebay.

Swap the bushes, subframe would be a big job!

As for the brake pipes, a good clean with emery, splash of paint and a bit of grease?

For reference, bloke who replaced bushes said they wew a pain. Car on ramp bushes had separated from metal. Required cuttng & air chiselling to remove. Think it would have been imposible on drive without cutting equipment
