Post by: Dazzler on 17 September 2007, 22:19:05
I can't get my Elite out of park........does it have to have a battery connected to come out of park???? I thought all you had to do was put the foot brake on :-/

i think the ignition has to be on.

if you remove the plastic gear surround, you can flick the lever and take it out of park.

if its not coming out of park when the ignition is on, then its likely your brake light switch.

Although on my old mini pre-facelift, it was a tad... Broke, and would let me change it to whatever gear regardless of key in the ignition or not...

Ign on (and battery connected) and foot on brake to release solenoid.

Or pull up the gaiter, and manually move solenoid....

Once the gaiter is removed you see a little yellow level that you move to release the gear shift stick.
