Has it got a long MOT? are the tyres all good, what service history and when was cambelt last changed? Does the autobox change smoothly, do all the electrics eg windows / sunroof work?
If all the above are good and the car is clean and tidy then probably worth it just. Anything else wrong is a bargaining point. Any questions or doubts just post them here mate.

A little much I think - I sold an N reg at £640 two years ago

You probably paid top whack for this one, but still, it's a lot of car for the money if it remains reliable and suits your needs.
If you don't have any written firm evidence of the cambelt, tensioner, idlers, and waterpump being changed, then you must do ALL of this immediately, and then every 40,000 miles thereafter. This is the most essential aspect of Omega engine maintenance!
Also, make sure crankcase breathers and ICV are clean - guide in maintenance section.

not bought yet but going to see it today, so now armed with questions!!!! Appantly it has some laquer coming off on the bonnet and thats all i know about it. i'll ask the cambelt question? Is this an easy job? i am ok with engines, but having said that i do have a mechanic friend.

Cambelt is very easy on a 2.0 ;)

Also check for rusting on the doors under the window strip, as this can be very expensive to put right or new doors (sechand with no rust). Also ask if the car has been involved in ANY accident, make sure all the electrics work, no EML light on the dash. The gearbox changes smoothly as suggested earlier, oil leaks. I think thats about it.
Cheers Paul :y
P.S also try to knock him down as well ;)

Nope, too dear - try nearer £500 ;)

mmm. didn't buy would not shift from 700 quid and it would have needed a new cambelt!!
so i am looking for no bigger than 2 ltr, pref auto for around 500 quid. prefer fairly localish to me don't mind a bit of travel
