Marks excellent guide http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152564750
How long should it take?
Bearing in mind it takes me 4 times as long these days ;D
-
If you take your time and fit in a couple of coffee/smoke breaks, a couple of hours without rushing (and no drawbacks). If you get any probs then who knows...... :'(
-
Allow an hour per side plus your setting up and clearing away time.
-
The book times state 3 hour's 1.5 hour's per side.

Barry.. I too have never done this job, but if we can link in, and you want an extra pair of hands....
I'm happy enough to come up and give you a hand/work through the guide, just to get the experience.
Won't cost you anymore than a cuppa :y

I will be doing my rear brake shoe replacement next weekend if anyone wants to give me a hand. Also replacing the rear disc's as well.

Ive never done the handbrake shoes.......but have done the rear pads.....if you change them...be prepared to tap them in.....my new pads were bloody tight to get in and the pistons were not going to go back any further......and took me a couple of hours......but then i was learning on the first side, other side i was much quicker :y

:'( having just replaced the handbrake cable which snapped just before mot and put new shoes in the drums AND spent the best part of 3 days on my back wriggling about under near 2tonne of omega, working in real tight area's doing the cable adjustment, I NEVER WANT TO SEE ANOTHER AGAIN ;)
That said, the drums can be a little tight to remove and tbh the guide here was invalueable since I'm not that good with mechanics and those stupid little adjusters inside the drums, AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!! :'( >:( Good luck, think I make it sound worse than it actually is mind. ;)
