My suspension is a bit floaty and is down a little at the back, so I want to stiffen it a little, what suggestions are there please?

Paving slab or big heavy toolbox in the boot.
It used to work on the 3 litre capri. ;D

But seriously have you checked for broken springs?
Is this something its always done or just a recent thing?
Maybe the shocks are getting a bit tired I'm sure the rear suspension must get more of a hammering from your towable home.

Broken springs was the first thing I checked - I think they are tired, but I would prefer stiffer springing and better damping.

It maybe the shocks.......may parents used to tow.....until i convinced them otherwise ;)
My Dads car used to go thro shocks every couple of years.....worth a look at :y

Shocks are not brilliant, but the back is a bit down and I would like it a bit firmer.
Guess you could try estate springs then......i believe they are firmer......but changing the shocks and springs for new might sort the prob :-/

or remove the ironing board from the boot lid :P

>:( Oi I drilled holes for that - OK I know it is only a copy of the Irmsher but I like it and it does help at speed, feels more planted at the back

I got rear 30 mm lowered new springs for my MV6 for £35 delivered of e-bay from Irmscher. Worth shopping around.....
Eibach are good kit as well, though.

My wife commented the car was bouncy. Worked out she liked the 2.0CD seats, and ride of the MV6
Don't want normal shocks and springs, the 2.0 were not shot and that was bouncy when towing.
Best for suspension was the MV6

Have you measured the nose weight of your van, could be too heavy there.
What about these http://www.springassisters.co.uk/singlecoilpicpage.htm had them fitted to my last car, they firmed up the rear suspension ok. Not got around to fitting to the Omega yet although it's not bad with the van attached.

I load it to 75kg
Got a gas tank in boot with the weight of 1/2 to 3/4 of an adult roughly.
I will put stiffer springs - just need to know what to use

Replaced my springs and shock in Jan 07.
Spoke to AutoVaux and they got Heavy duty springs P/n HD90542361 @ £65.45 each.
These were for the 3.0 :y

got these springs for my omega - much firmer than ones they replaced - needed coil compressor to slot them in place.
Plus KYB gas adjust shocks from www.buypartsby.co.uk at £21.74 each - direct replacement for original shocks and are specifically designed for cars that carry heavy loads or tow.
Brilliant setup rides much firmer and copes easily with van on back ie no pitch and roll

Those KYB gas adjust shockers seem a good price from Buypartsby. They don't seem to list anything for self levelling Omegas. Anyone got any cheap suggestions please?

I think the self levelling shocks are Vaux specific, Mine came in Vaux boxes and the HD springs are a Vaux part number

The kit Irmscher were selling on E-bay was the last of their stock seemingly and according to them there are no springs now available for the Omega.
The Eibachs I fitted have been okay in all circumstances so far 40mm front / 30mm rear, yours should only be 30 at each end due to the lighter engine, but with the van on the back with a full boot it needed the self levelling as it would have been just a bit too low at the back.
Definately better handling and a lot cheaper than Vauxhall springs.

The 2.2 is heaver than a V6 :o
If it is too low towing without self leveling they might be out, mine is saggy at the back I'll measure the height when I get home

Sorry about that, it is the Elite trim which is heavier obviously and the kerb weights are the same for the 2.2 oil burner and the V6s. The front drop was estimated by Eibach to be up to 30mm but they did state that it is dependant on the engine , trans etc fitted so more might be seen which in my case it did.
As for the ride height at the rear the estate is heavier at the back than the saloon so you may well be okay.
Aftermarket levelers are listed by Monroe and can be run either from an onboard compressor or a schraeder valve feeding both shocks.
The main reason for saying it would have been too low without the shocks assisting is that we have 5 speed bumps on the street which are narrow enough that when the rear wheels are on the road so are the caravan's meaning the jockey wheel is the lowest point.
