i have purchased an omega\ 3.0 mv6 estate wich was owned by the local old bill, does any one know the difference between this and a standard mv6 est thanks nathan
-
Few differences...they are often GLS Spec
Likely:
no MV6 Alloy Wheels
Maybe no HID lights
no sport seats
no sunroof
no climate control
no leccy windows all round
Improvements, you may well have LSD
larger Alternator / battery
probably a few others, depends on what the car was used for, if normal white traffic car, then quite a bit.
If exec / unmarked car, you may have a lot more.

Most have HID lights, manual gearbox often have limited slip diff. I've seen one with an uprated front mounted oil cooler, not sure how common this is. Other than that fairly basic spec as mentioned, nothing like the retail MV6 which is a lot closer to Elite spec.

k thanks it have the hid lights, looks like it was a traffic/dog squad car as got holed where camera etc was ,its auto what about the engine any mods to that?
-
no engine mods, same as regular V6's
will have a larger alternator and heavy duty springs.
Gearbox has a shorter ratio, to helps pickup

I have an auto that was a unmarked car and it has a LSD which was an option on the retail MV6 I believe but not seen very often on the reatils cars. So your may have one fitted as well.

That right about the gearbox then!?! :o
I was gonna say, uprated suspension for the real policemen to deal with the sleeping policemen at high speeds ;) The number of police that complain about speed humps! ;D

AFAIK pre-facelift retail MV6 did not actually have sunroof and climate as standard?

I think you'll find it did ;)
Prefacelift retail MV6 is CDX spec (minus cruise)
Facelift retail MV6 is CD spec.

I remember reading some Vauxhall promotional material back in the late 1980's or early 90's, and it said they fitted heavy duty wheels to the cars they sold to plod, to help them mount kerbs.

For 'heavy duty wheels' read steels, not alloys..... ;D
