Check engine light on, paperclip gives 133, list says EGR. Smack it with a hammer or is it dead?

A little help please? Can't find anyhing with the search. Hammer no workie. How much is a new/used EGR? Do I need to blank it in the meanwhile, or is it happy to drive as-is? Runs a little off, but still goes pretty well.

I'm not sure what the EGR fault means. Presumably it has detected something odd about the EGR. I don't know whether this is that the ECU is modulating the valve and seeing no difference in the lambda sensor output (unlikely, since blocking the valve apparently doesn't cause an issue) or it could be that the electrical connection to the valve is broken or shorted.
Does the valve's coil measure about right in terms of resistance?
If it idles roughly that's a sign that the EGR is not sealing.
Might be worth blanking it and seeing what happens.

Cheers guys. Yeah, it is affecting how it runs. I'll take it off and see what I can do with it. Also, I'd be happy to pay 20 quid for a known good one.
