Post by: Martin_1962 on 03 October 2007, 09:46:07
Last few days my car has been feeling sluggish, got new plugs, air filter is clean, what else to check?

No error codes, but it does seem a little slow off the line.

I'm thinking could be breathers or throttle body, failing that running too cold.

Wouldnt always give a code if the rams werent working. Mine didnt work and had no light come on. It might just be worth checking.

Similar - very little difference.

The power drop feels like a very hot summers day.

DBW are a bugger to check - I'll have a look at dinner time - only the rear one moves without a load doesn't it

97000
Crank about 3 months ago
very little difference
Normally I get on acceleration around
7.8 petrol, 9.0 gas
now getting 9-9.5 on both.

It has had an Italian tune up

It is due an oil change (early not 10,000 miles)

Plugs are good, coil packs seem OK.

I will check the exhaust at the weekend

The weight of that bloody great fart juice container in boot.

Seriously, check for vac at multirams.  Hope its not throttle body beginning to fail, crappy DBW things...

assuming a healthy car and blocked egr only can be lambda sensors becoming old or cats..(mine was)

ps : although not logical I see cars used in LPG for a long period have drop in fuel performance also even with seperate ECU.
Can be related to LPG subject.

Well I'll check the exhaust this weekend, don't know if it is possible to remove cats, I may enquire.

Front ram - my piece of wire wobbles when floored, so it works.

Can't even see rear ram - except for a bit of pipe.

On overrun it sounds like a bit of fuel is getting through as it pops a little.

Sounds like a manifold is blowing when cold :(

Suspect exhaust leak too

Watch the actual actuators - the vac pipes moving means nothing.

My piece of wire was wrapped around the front actuator - can't even get to the back with all the wires and pipes there

Do it visually instead.

DBW and I have no assistant - home it would be too noisy

if i had to guess i would say you have now completed around 8000 miles or so on lpg possibly more? and the car has just not got the urge it used to have but still performs ok ;D the simple answer is the lpg has now scoured all the old deposits of carbon from your combustion chambers and your slightly down on compression hence the lower performance, its a known occurence on lpg motors, the answer is to run it for a 1000 miles on petrol and the missing oerformance will return until the gas cleans it all out again!!
