Title: Brake bleeding sequence

Can someone please confirm the sequence for brake bleeding? ::)

There is nothing in the tech manuals to define this ... but I always work from furthest to nearest in relation to the master cylinder

What he says....  Reverse bleeding not recommended though as can flip seals in the ABS unit...

Reverse bleeding is forcing the fluid in at the brakes and removing it from the master cylinder ... on some vehicles this is the only way to remove all airlocks ... as already stated .. don't do it on a miggy .. it won't do the ABS any good at all.

I (we) did mine on sunday .... SWMBO sits in the car and operates the pedal in time with the spoken command ...  IN ......   OUT ... :)   cheaper than buying an easibleed or similar !!  :)

post 98 are independent systems from ABS unit, so sequence unimportnat.  Personally, I go diagonal, starting drivers rear, passenger front, passenger rea, driver front.


And do NOT let air get in ABS unit - that will be a PITA.

Mr Haynes says:-
Pre 98 models with 3 channel ABS
Front left
Front right
Rear left
Rear right

Post 98 with 4 channel
Left rear
Right front
Right rear
Left front

Thanks guys, Andy I didn't know that Haynes made a manual for 2001 model if they do where can I lay my hands on it?

ALEX, POST 98 MODELS ARE NOT FACELIFT, THEY ARE MINI FACELIFT, AND MR HAYNES DOES NOT COVER MY2000 CARS.

Haynes manuals just go up to mini face lift ie 99
I would think a Haynes for even a post 2000 car would have its uses. It would just be a case of suck & see & use a bit of common dog.
