Title: A new toy
Post by: hotel21 on 27 September 2007, 23:13:32
Some of you clever peeps may well have discovered this already but its new to me.....

http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=56.291311&lon=-3.11487&z=18.2&r=0&src=msl

Images are much sharper than Google Earth...

Above is an (approximate) ariel view of a wartime prisoner of war camp nearby to where I stay.  The image is a few years old but, to me, the level of accuracy is quite superb.

I rediscovered bits of the world (Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia) that I had not been to for 30 years or so....

Worth a wee play...   ;)

ps - discovered that SWMBO had sheets out to dry in the back garden the day the satelite went over....    ;D

I'm fascinated by these sites. Images look about 6-7 years old IMO. They are still building half of my road.

A few gliders waiting to take off http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.188319&lon=-1.035709&z=20&r=0&src=msl maybe I'm in one of them?

Grenham Common still just about resembles an airfield. http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.377777&lon=-1.278889&z=15.2&r=0&src=msl They have taken the tarmac off the runway but not ripped up the hardcore yet.

Makes me want to start mowing the year into my lawn or painting it on my roof so I can work out when the next lot get taken  ;D

Yes, the images are much older than those on Google Earth and, for my neck of the woods, not as sharp. In fact, I can tell that the pics of my street were taken around August 2003.

Interesting, nevertheless.  :y

Interesting, taken about 4 years ago I think (the detailed ones are taken from a plane) as my car is not on my drive and the drive had not been made bigger and wider with nice paving.....

However, I spotted my car here (sad isn't it!) at the Local Scout HQ!

Thats right, its the unmistakable red Nova.....

Best I can match the date to is between summer 1996 and spring 2002 by some building construction dates.  I think more toward the 2002 date though...

Anyone else tie it down better?
