Changing Aux Drive Belt.
Hows this done on a 2002 2.2i.
I have all the bits namely, the belt, a water pump, an alternator, but I see no means of tensioning the bloody thing.
Last car I did this on was a cortina....
Incidentally, anyone hit with green taxes on these buggers yet?

There is a spring loaded tensioner.
The waterpump is cambelt driven, so not on aux belt

15mm spanner i believe, just turn against the spring tension and you will see the belt slacken. There is a small hole that will come into line with another, pop in a small drill bit or similar to hold the tensioner whilst you replace the belt.

Oh bugger. Mind you it is due the cam belt change....

Two birds and one stone spring to mind ;)

No, one car HP'd till 2008 and lack of funds to replace it springs to mind.....

It could get a lot worse if it breaks.. Not an expensive job to DIY.

Cambelt is a straightforward job on the 4 cyclinder. False economy not to do it. Why are you changing aux belt , water pump (good idea with cambelt) and alternator (unlucky if this has failed on a 2002 car) BTW?
Do a sketch of the aux belt routing around all the pulleys before you remove it ;)

Or use a digital camera ;)
