Would you change the front pads before or after a brake bleed, or doesn't it matter?

No, on thinking about it, you couldn't do them at the same time, you could only do one or the other, so there :P

Same time, as you need to remove pads to push calipers in to get old fluid from caliper...

Hmmm..... I understand, cheers [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I would do them at the same time but pads first as the pistons have to be pushed back into the caliper and if you have filled the resevoir as you bleed the brakes you will end up lovely paint stripping brake fluid everywhere. So at the same time but pads then bleed brakes if you know what I mean. eer my head hurts know ;D

Hang about there seems to be a bit of a contradiction beteen EL and TB.
-
My reasoning, is bleed through so clear, clamp rubber hose, push caliper pitons back in to expell the fluid in caliper, then fit new pads...
-
Couldn't you achieve the same by pushing the pads back?
-
Yup, but run risk of damaging pads, as you well know. But I'll humour you so you can get post count up ;)

Moi? :o

I clamp the hose and open the bleed nipple and then squeeze the piston in removing the old fluid in the caliper as a result.
Pads are now easy to remove and re-fit. then bleed through the new fluid......

Presumably Mark, you would first bleed that brake to get fresh fluid into the hose before you clamped it, and then squeeze the piston in to remove old fluid from the caliper, change the pads, and then re-bleed?
Any further forward on a date for the other thing I asked you about?

for me both jobs go hand in hand - renew then bleed ro remove the air as well
