filmed in the 70s iirc

featured 2 nustang shelbys, after he totally demolished one (still driveable)

he drove into a car wash where he'd seen another one being freshly cleaned, and swapped it

The Italian job.....the proper one not the crap american thing....

Where else can you get phrases like.....

'Are those quartz Iodine'
'your only supposed to blow the bloody doors off'
'A man, broke into my toliet last night'
'I like em big'
'Now then lads, Ive got a great idea....'

etc, etc, etc....

A mate of mine works for the local preserved railway. He was very excited about a year ago because they had a volunteer who would make a great fat controller.

Regrettably the tailor who makes their uniforms informed them that he could only cope with up to a 60" waist measurement :o

Oh, and for me it's got to be either bullitt or the italian job :-/

:)Smokey & the bandit. If you were a young lad at the time you wanted to be Burt Reynolds. He drove the best cars, all the girls loved him & he never lost a fight, even when someone did deck him he still looked cool!!!! :D

Jack lemmon, Peter Falk, Kenan Wyinn, Gert Frobe, Eric Sykes and am pretty sure it was Natalie Wood and not Janet Leigh.

You're right.  :o You spotted my little test then?  ;D ;D

I just googled the cast here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059243/fullcredits). I don't remember most of them but I used to love this film.

IIRC it was a pair of Mach 1s.

Great film and i think once held the record for the amount of Vehicles wrecked(98) :o.

The actor who played the part of the driver was a stunt driver and was killed a few years later doing a stunt IIRC :(.

I'm a bit of a fan of the Carry Ons - the Sid James/Ken Williams era.  Good harmless fun. Dated, but that form of slapstick remains entertaining, and far from PC :y

Favs have to be Up The Kyber, Camping, and England (a so-so film really lifted by Winsor Davies - he is excellent in the role)...

My list of great car movies starts with Gran Prix starring James Garner, LeMans starring Steve McQueen, Winning starring Paul Newman, Mad Max, The Italian Job, Gumball Rally, American Graffitti, Smokey and the Bandit, Vanishing Point, a couple of real old ones with James Cagney and Mickey Rooney, and many more whose names escape me.
