I have not had my omega long but noticed that sometimes it is difficult to engage first gear.
An example is coming up to a t junction and first wont engage straight away as i am slowing down i have to stop sometimes then it will engage but other times i have to put it second and then put it in first.
Any ideas? :-/

I have the same probs
I recon it's the clutch dragging...

Seen it where the 'box is cold and needs a quick release into neutral before getting first. Can be common on manuals of any make but tends to clear once all warmed up.

As first is such a snatchy low ratio I've tended with all my cars to only choose first once you get to a dead stop. If you're still rolling you should be able to pull away in second again anyway.
Just my opinion, but watching people force all different cars (new and old) into first whilst still decelerating makes me cringe as it always feels like the gearbox doesn't like it!

Cheers for the advice :y

Mine's the same, and worse in the winter months. No problem when warm, and no so bad in summer.

Sometimes a change of gearbox oil will help if the oil's been in there a long time, but it's normal for a gearbox to be a little more notchy when cold. I also never change down into first until the car has stopped.
