Completely different from the film version.

VULCAN 607 it tells the story of how the RAF planned the attack on port stanleys airfield during the falklands conflict...I`ve found it very good... :y
-
I got peter kay's biography last xmas
havent opened it yet!
might do this weekend, royal mail's on strike for 5 days...

I did, several whilst on holiday, and it made an enjoyable change. Clarkson's books are good, but probably because he shares my cynical view of the world ::)
.. But now it's back to factual stuff like how to make cars go faster and make geeky gadgets. Oh, and how to weld, which is probably a good one to figure out now I've bought a MIG.

Also try Sea Harrier Over The Falklands for the fighter pilot side and laugh at the thrashing the Yanks get in trials
-
Try fiction - if you want a laugh try Terry PRatchett
-
Last book I read was Touching the Void, true story :y. Another book though, that has come well recommended from a trusted source is Alien Agenda by Jim Marrs :y All about conspiracy theories ::)

Don't bother with "The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocolypse" - it sounds great but fails to deliver.
My favorite author (that's the bloke that writes the books) is Shaun Hutson, and if you ask niceley in a Library they even let you borrow them without paying. :)

i have Richard Hammonds new book, so far a good read.
Jeremy clarkson biography was brilliant
Duncan Brannatyne (dragons den) another fantastic read
I try to read a lot, some of it is complete rubbish
-
:(Yeah but they fine you 15p if you take 'em back late!! I buy most of mine from booties for a few pence each & pass them on when read.
Recycling!!!!!!!!!!!!! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Shaun also happens to be a top bloke (I still am getting stick over Liverpoll V Derby :-[) .
He is friends with my ex.
I would recommend The Portable Door by Tom Holt if you like fun stuff. or The Master And Margerita by Mikhail Bulgakov if you like Russian literature....

Aahh. The Palestine problem. So what did you deduce from your study into middle eastern politics.? A very tricky one and no obvious solution. ::)

Geoffrey Archer works for me, if you are looking for chewing gum for the brain.
Liked the Gordon Ramsey autobiography. Like his TV stuff as well so kinda filled in a few gaps for me. Not exactly world beating intelectual stuff but kept this simpleton occupied for a few days whilst on hols.... ;D

Currently reading Tommy Docherty's autobiography, Ian Botham's is good too.
I love Terry Pratchett's stuff but the one that I really enjoyed a few years ago was The Jigsaw Man by Paul Britton, here's the Amazon review;
Reviews
Book Description
The ultimate true-crime story.
Synopsis
The autobiography of Paul Britton, one of the foremost offender profilers in the world. What he searches for at the scene of a crime are not fingerprints, fibres or blood stains, he looks for the "mind trace" left behind by those responsible, the psychological characteristics that can help the police to identify and understand the nature of the perpetrator. Over the past dozen years, Britton has assisted the police in over 100 cases involving murder, rape, arson, extortion and kidnapping. Among them were the murder of Jamie Bulger on a lonely railway line in Liverpool, the abduction of baby Abbie Humphries, the brutal slaying of Rachel Nickell on Wimbledon Common and the notorious "House of Horror" in Gloucester. He has helped to solve some of Britain's most baffling cases, and has also advised the FBI and the Russian Ministry of the Interior.

Just coming to the end of it. Very good read.

I must admit, I get through bucket loads of books - usually better than some of the TV offerings!! I can thoroughly recommend the following:-
Adventure - Wilbur Smith
Thrillers - Martina Cole
Fantasy - Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time series)
They've all written a hell of a lot of books so should keep you going for a couple of years Markie! ::) ;)

Try D DAY BY STEPHEN AMBROSE A VERY GOOD READ AND TELLS IT AS IT WAS, NOT HOW THE FILMS TELL IT. :o
