Title: Hissing Noise from Top of Plenum?
Post by: damon80 on 23 October 2007, 20:03:51
Ho Folks,

When I had the bonnet up yesterday, I noticed that there seems to be a hissing noise coming from the top of the plenum - it sounds like it's coming from underneath the black plastic cover that says "Ecotec".

I've never noticed it before - is it normal?

(It's a 2002 3.2 MV6 manual)

Cheers folks  :y

a certain amount is but if it's a lot, then the seal that fits on the bottom of the breather (plastic part that the ecotec cover clips onto) might be worth checking. along with making sure that the breather is fitted correctly ...

How does the ecotec cover come off?  Does it just unclip?

And how does the breather fit on? (just so I can check that it is fitted properly)

If you look at the 3 rd piccy in the how to, you'll see a 20 ish mm hole in the centre of the plenum, there is a special washer in there, I'll bet it's that, About a quid each,,,,  Mark DTM gave me one in Newent...  I still owe him a quid for it ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for your feedback folks.
So is it looking like one of those things I just have to live with?  I've not noticed any drop in performance or anything.  And as I mentioned before, I never noticed it before, but happen it's always done it?  :-/
