Hi, I wonder if anyone could let me know the best way to increase performance on my 2.2 gls ?
With the veccy I had previously, I fitted an enlarged throttle body, 4 bar fuel regulator etc, etc ( I can't even find a performance air filter for the omega!)..
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks,
Steve

Buy a V6

Buy a V6
I concur, Tuning a smaller engine will work out just as expensive.

could you take parts of a bigger omega engine such as cams. Just a thought.

Nope, seeing as the V6 engines have only 3 cylinders per bank! They are completely incompatible.
Other than going for forced induction (mega bucks) there's no easy way to get any worthwhile increase. As previously mentioned the best and cheapest route is to sell it and buy a V6, preferably a 3 litre manual as it's the quickest retail Omega available. If that's still not quick enough you can consider throwing money at it as there's no upgrade route from there, but even then you'd be better off going for a different car.

With a remap, you may be able to gain 5 - 10%, but it will cost.
Performance air filters are pointless on Omega. The standard one is huge, unlike the Veccy ones, so is not a bottleneck.
A good service - cleaning throttle bodies, breathers etc, can make a noticible difference.
A member here, Tunnie, has a 2.2 that is much more sprightly now than it was 18 months ago, so hopefully he can comment (though his car had been badly neglected before he got it, so always room for improvement)...

hi, cleaning the throttle bodys, and regular oil changes made a big difference!!
As mentioned my 2.2 was abused by its previous owner, but now its running a LOT smoother.
Geniune GM exhaust, regular oil changes, clean throttle body works wonders.
First time i cleaned the breathers, and a new surge of power around 4k rpm.
2.5 V6 is only slightly quicker, if you change for for 3.0 manual.
