The power steering on my 2.6 seems very heavy when stationary and on full lock (noticeable when getting out of tight parking space) and i don't recall my 2.5 being anything but light at all times. It seems to be getting worse. Any ideas?

Worth checking the fluid level and for leaks, also the tyre pressures.
:y :y :y
-
also check the fuse it gets heavy as the vairible speed adjust will not be working if the fuse has gone
-
when not stationary is it feeling heavier than it should be?
steering when stationary isn't recommended, and the lack of movement means the road gives more resistance to steering anyway

Yes, it is. I know it's not recommended, but sometimes it's necessary. I'll check out fluids/fuses tomorrow.
Thanks guys :y

Yep, check out fuse etc, check fluid. I believe on the V6 Tech2 can adjust it, with a choice of (three?) parameters. Maybe yours is set on the most heavy?
If there's still a problem apparent, I'd be looking at the pump first - not toooo tricky ;)
If You need a hand you know where I am

No we dont. You've gone incognito on your avatar :-/

Only Elite is fitted with variable rate power steering but if fitted, should be dead light at parking speeds i.e. turn with one finger. If there are no leaks, my money is on the pump, common vauxhall problem.

All V6 engine's have viariable effort steering boxes only the 4 pot 2.0l and 2.2l dont have them i know as i had a huge argument with VX as they said all omegas are fitted with Variable effort steering boxes which is total Boll*cks
All V6 steering Boxes are vairiable effort

I might be wrong, but I think the variable type can be adjusted with a Tech II.
-
Well, I checked the fluid - fine. Then, I checked the fuse - fine again. Then I got into the car and tried the steering and it's fine, too.
It was definitely heavy yesterday and on a couple of previous occasions, so I think I have an intermittent fault. I'll just have to keep an eye on things and see if the problem gets worse, that's all I can do really. :-/

All 6 cylinder Omegas have the servotronic speed sensitive steering.
And yes, Tech2 can adjust.
However, sounds like pump is fubar.

Sorry for late reply, our 2.2 Diesel elite estate has variable assist but CD does not.
If intermittent fault may be connection somewhere? Supply to pump? I would be checking.
